Green chalcedony portrait bust of Julia Drusilla or Julia Livilla Roman made about 37-39 AD. Drusilla and Livilla were sisters of the Emperor (Caligula : AD 37-41). In AD37 they and other princesses were awarded exceptional honours, an event perhaps commemorated in a series of imperial cameos made at this time

Three layered sardonyx cameo: portrait of Augustus wearing the aegis of Minerva and a sword-belt Roman , made about AD 14-20 The emperor originally wore a laurel wreath, this was replaced, probably in the Medieval period, with the current setting.

 

Marble head from a statue of the emperor Augustus (27BC – AD 14) Perhaps made after the emperors death in AD 14. No hint is given of the emperors death – he was 76 at death.
